This was a logistical nightmare masterpiece. Long layovers both ways, and two destinations that you can’t directly get to, Machu Picchu and the Galapagos.
JFK -> San Salvador (layover) -> Lima -> Cusco -> Machu Picchu -> Cusco -> Lima -> Quito-> Galapagos Islands -> Quito -> Panama City (layover) -> JFK

We booked a 4 night, 5 day island hopping cruise. This is the way to go in the Galapagos. Each day you see a new island with new animals and adventures awaiting you. The yacht travels between the islands while you sleep to ensure maximum exploring time. As you may have heard you will be able to get up close and personal with all of the animals here as they do not fear humans at all. The snorkeling is also second to none, and you will see tons of sea lions and giant turtles in the water along with countless species of fish.
